Akhil Amlani.
I am 16 years old. I have just completed my GCSEs and have now begun my A-Level course. I first joined Animal Aid in February 2005, when I began my campaign for animal rights and vegetarianism at school. I was brought up as a vegetarian, and when given the choice to eat meat, decided not to do so.
My school campaign lasted three months and included a continuous poster campaign and leaflet distribution. It ended with a special week of events on the theme Five days, five surprises. The main event was an all-vegetarian food day in the cafeteria and a vegetarian workshop hosted by Animal Aid’s staff members Elaine and Fiona.
I hope to raise more awareness about the benefits of a vegetarian diet and the protection of animals in the future.
