Animal Aid : 30 years of campaigning for cruelty-free living

When I was thirteen, I went on holiday with my family to Norfolk, and picked up a leaflet in the holiday cottage advertising a local animal sanctuary. It was this single leaflet that first prompted me to consider what I was eating and challenge whether eating animals was really acceptable in this day and age.

I remember writing to The Vegetarian Society and Animal Aid after I got back from holiday. With their advice and support, I became vegetarian soon after.

Through membership of Animal Aid and working alongside Animal Aid as a youth contact I became more knowledgeable about other areas of animal abuse and started to take a more active approach. I set up a website – Campaigning for Animals – and have since organised numerous library displays. In 2004, I made the transition to a vegan diet, and have since helped at the Christmas Without Cruelty Fayre in London and the London-wide street collection in 2006.
